Good Morning friends,

It would be a lie if I said I wasn’t interested in our royal family and in particular The Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. They both exude an elegance and grace that is simply beautiful. But, it is more than that. It is the desire to not be them exactly but to be able to dress with the same air of elegance.

Having always been a loyal fan of period dramas (Can you imagine being Lady Mary in Downton Abbey…) I sometimes wonder if I was born in the wrong era. When I look around me in the street I see women who take no care in their appearance. This of course is their choice however, I cannot help but feel a sort of sadness about it. When as women did we stop caring. Not that I agree that we should be Erin in our appearance but just that we should at least resemble some thoughts of caring.

I absolutely love the girly, lady like look that comes with a dress that fits properly without being too big or too small. Clothes are a way that women have expressed themselves for hundreds of years. But, for some reason we seem to have forgotten about finding the right fit for our body shapes. Therefore, we wear clothes that just do not suit us. Adding to the downfall in elegant and graceful women.

Now don’t get me wrong in what I have already said. I certainly do not believe that heels on a daily basis are practical. I have a lively toddler and cannot bare the thought of a heel on 99% of occasions. What I can bare the thought of however is actually feeling like a lady even though most of the time I probably have some sort of slobber on my person and the potential for food to be thrown at me 100% of the time.

Why can’t my manners, style and air not be that of a modern day Duchess? Why should they have all the fun? I may not attend state dinners and have flowers given to me on public outings but, that is not going to stop me from feeling and becoming a Lady in this modern world.

I don’t by any means think that this will be an easy thing to achieve and I am sure there will be a lot to learn. But learning is the fun part…

See you on my next instalment when I will be starting my Etiquette Training.
